Process for Submitted Report

What happens after an incident report is submitted?

The Civil Rights Compliance Office will review every report received to identify whether the conduct reported could meet the definitions in Civil Rights Compliance Office's policies. Those that do not meet the definition may be referred to campus partners such as Human Resources, Student Conduct, Office of University Compliance and Integrity, etc. When submitting an incident report, please include as much detail as possible to ensure your concerns are shared with the appropriate office.

For those not referred, the Civil Rights Compliance Office staff will:

  1. Acknowledge and thank the reporter.
  2. Email or call the impacted party to offer resources and supportive measures.
  3. Share available opportunities to participate in an OIE resolution.
  4. Assist in remedying the situation and stopping the negative behavior from occurring in the future.

Important Note

An incident report does not, on its own, automatically initiate an Civil Rights Compliance Office investigation. A Civil Rights Compliance Office investigation will only begin after a signed complaint is submitted, either by the complainant or by an Civil Rights Compliance Office director. For more information, please see our Civil Rights Compliance Office Process Standards

Unless the reporter is a complainant or respondent, they may not receive updates after the incident report is submitted, nor will they be notified about an outcome.
